YEARS IN ABINGDON
Serving the local Oxfordshire community
Based in historic Abingdon-on-Thames, our group takes full advantage of the rich Oxfordshire countryside, the River Thames, and nearby Youlbury Scout Activity Centre (the world’s first permanent scout campsite).
Every scout group wears a distinctive neckerchief. Ours features the colours a yellow body with a green and blue border. Worn with pride by Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Adult Leaders, it unites us as one family.
Our Mission
11th Abingdon Scout Group empowers young people in Abingdon to grow through adventure, teamwork and shared values, helping them take the lead in making a positive difference. Guided by volunteer leaders and the values of Integrity, Respect, Care, Belief and Cooperation, we deliver a fun, inclusive Programme that builds skills for life, confidence and belonging — welcoming children from all backgrounds, regardless of race, religion or ability.
The 11th Abingdon Necker
Presented to every young person and adult leader at their official investiture ceremony.
11th Abingdon teaches new skills and brings adventure to over 100 people. Based at All Saints Methodist church, the group welcomes everyone on their scout journey from 4 year old and upwards.
